The My Topics method is the second one in the list when you start creating a newsletter with letterpal.
My Topics allow you to specify any topic you would like to cover in your next newsletter edition.
It’s perfect if you already have content piece in mind, but would like to save time doing the research and typing up a draft.
Here’s how to get started using it.
Creating a custom topic
It’s important to understand that when you create a custom topic, you are in fact giving letterpal the information it needs to run extensive research for you on that topic.
To that effect, there are several fields you can fill out:
- Topic: a short description of the general topic, such as “Recent Bitcoin Surge”
- Topic Details (optional): where any additional details about the topic might go
- Topic Type: news OR general, depending on if you want to do a “breaking news” type of coverage or a more timeless piece
- Date range: how far back should the information we gather come from
- Location: where in the world should the information originate from
When you’ve filled out those fields, you can proceed and create the topic. It will immediately be added to your list of custom topics.
Using a Custom Topic
To use a custom topic, the first step is to drag & drop it into your newsletter template on the right side of the screen.
The investigative web research will begin after you click “Confirm Selection” and arrive at the next step where you will either:
- choose an optional angle for your topic (e.g.: Is Tesla overvalued?)
- or decide not to and remain factual by immediately clicking the ‘Generate New Issue’ button
This will prompt letterpal to start researching the topic in order to provide a full coverage of the news piece when creating your newsletter.
